Teachers’ Classroom Tools Grants
The Teachers’ Classroom Tools Grants Program was established within the Ohio County
Community Foundation in 1999 to provide grants to teachers within the Rising Sun School
Corporation. Formally known as Thank-A-Teacher Grants, the Teachers’ Classroom Tools
Program was created to provide grants for teaching tools that enhance classroom learning or
curriculum. Teachers can request up to $500 and may work together and combine their
grant request for more expensive projects or programs.
A total of $8,048.86 was awarded during 2009 to the following teachers:
Ohio County Elementary-Middle School Grants
Nanette Williams - $497.38 - 39 books for 6-8 grade level for OCEMS Library
Karen Chase - $474.18 - Grade 2 games and materials to use with at risk students
Kristin Market and Marty Schmidt - $1,000 - Grade -K-5 Document Projection System and Math Matters
Rachel Sarike - Tammy Weaver - $1,000 - A medium low back mobile chair
Brian Graham, Denny Carrigan, Shelia Wilson - $1,499 - Subscription to NBC News Archives on Demand
Chandra Phillips, Julie Wilson, Kelly Shelton - $1,500 - Alphabets, equipment, ingredients and materials needed to cook
a snack each week signifying letter being introduced.
Rising Sun High School Grants
Jason Barth - $75.00 VCR/DVD for Classroom use
Ron Eads - $169.95 Ron Eads - Band Director to purchase the upgrade for Finale Program used to write music.
Darrin Monhollen - $490.30 supplies and equipment to use in the Digital Electronics course in the Engineering class.
Kevin Wirsch - $375 to purchase set of classic books - The Kite Runner - 12th grade English Reading Comp
Pam McClure - $499.03 Stability balls and exercise mats to be used in physical ed classes for grades 10, 11,12.
Bob White - $469.02 VCR/DVD Recorder-Player for US History,Current Events, Indiana Studies and World
Cultures for grades 9-12.
