The Homer Pastor Scholarship Fund was established within the
Ohio County Community Foundation, in 2006, by Phylis Pastor, in
memory of her beloved pet. Ms. Pastor loved her dog and states
he was a wonderful companion. Homer was struck by a car when
he was 3 ½ years old and his owner credits Dr. Don Beckett,
Rising Sun Veterinarian, for saving her pet’s life. Ms. Pastor
established the Homer Pastor Scholarship Fund to insure other
pets and animals will receive proper care and treatment. Her wish
is to provide scholarship grants to financially assist Ohio County
students pursuing a degree as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine,
Veterinary Technologist or Veterinary Technician.
