The Ohio County Community Foundation (OCCF) is pleased to administer
the Community/Junior College Scholarship Program. This grant program
was established within the Ohio County Community Foundation in March of
2006 by Mayor Bill Marksberry, City Clerk Rae Baker Gipson and the
Rising Sun City Council. It is the goal of the City of Rising Sun to financially
assist residents of Ohio County seeking to pursue a two (2) year college
degree at a Community or Junior College. Applicant must meet the specific
scholarship criteria. Each year, the City of Rising Sun will determine the
scholarship award. This year the award amount will be $500. Award
notification letters will be sent upon verification of eligibility.

Scholarship Amount: $500
Scholarship Criteria
• Applicant must be a current resident of Ohio County for at least one (1) year.
• Applicant must have obtained a high school diploma or GED.
• Applicant with previous college credits and current year high school graduates, must submit a copy
of their most recent transcript. (Please submit current tuition bill with application, if available.)
• Applicant’s receiving a full - tuition scholarship are not eligible to apply.
• Applicant must submit a completed application by the deadline.

Scholarship Payment
• This scholarship may be used for tuition and/or books and will be paid directly to the school
in which the recipient is enrolled. The scholarship will only be paid upon the Foundation's
receipt of the recipient's current tuition bill.

Reapplying for the Scholarship
• Scholarship recipients may reapply for the City of Rising Sun Community/Junior
College Scholarship each semester that it is available provided they meet the
scholarship criteria.
• Eligible recipients may only receive the scholarship up to a maximum of six (6)
semesters per student.
• Recipient must remain in good standing with the college for all semesters.
• To reapply recipients are required to submit a current transcript and a completed

year they are eligible.
